Crisis 11: five losses and a recovery curriculum

Barry and Matthew Carpenter argue, in their discussion of a Recovery Curriculum that, as well as the possibility of bereavement, the lockdown will have inflicted five specific losses on young people:

Routine, structure, friendship, opportunity and freedom.

These are well worth reflecting on as we regroup and seek to recover and rebuild. I think lost learning is important – and the fact that some will have lost more than others is cause for alarm. But learning ideally needs firm foundations.
